Tonight I placed the baptismal candles of each of the children in the Advent wreath ring and lit them at dinner to call to mind our family baptisms on this Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. Surrounding the candles are shells also symbols of baptism. It was a simple way to celebrate the feast and to be reminded of our own baptisms.

That is a BEAUTIFUL idea! I love it!
So pretty!
What a great idea — and so simple! Your family is so lucky to have you — and the blogosphere is lucky you decided to jump on in ….
Wow!!! That is a wonderful idea. I never thought about doing that. I definately have to do that next year.
I had posted the idea the day before on the 4 Real forums hoping anyone interested would see it and be able to incorporate it. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to find all the candles in time – amazingly I found them all – small miracle at our house!
I agree–this is a beautiful idea! I have ALWAYS wondered what to do with those candles; as it is, they are just sitting in a box upstairs!
I guess one could always light them on the baptismal anniversaries as well.
This is a truly beautiful idea.
What a beautiful idea. I love it!
I featured this idea over on Catholic Icing today. I love that you did this! What a really cute idea. Now to go and dig all of our baptism candles out of the attic… lol!
